Quick answer
Which is better, Bitfinex or Anytime Capital?
If you are in the United States, Bitfinex is not an option: it stopped verifying U.S. individuals in August 2017, wound down their accounts, and agreed in 2021 to stop trading with anyone in New York. Anytime Capital serves customers wherever they are, the U.S. included, with card pricing from 4% with the spread included, cash in branch or by mail, same-day wire, an OTC desk, a phone line, a non-custodial wallet and an FDIC-insured cash account with a free virtual debit card. Bitfinex is the stronger choice only if what you want is a professional margin and derivatives engine with deep BTC and USDT books.

Card pricing at Anytime Capital, where Bitfinex has no card rail
Published fee percentages on a debit or credit card order
Bitfinex does not sell crypto for a card payment directly: card purchases routed to third-party processors for non-U.S. customers, with the fee and spread shown inside the partner's checkout; not available to a U.S. customer. Anytime Capital card pricing starts from 4% and is shown in full before you confirm, excluding network fees. As of September 2026.
What Bitfinex is, and why it left the United States
Bitfinex launched in 2012 in Hong Kong and is run by iFinex Inc., a British Virgin Islands company that also controls Tether, the issuer of USDT. For most of the last decade it has been the exchange professionals used for size: a fast matching engine, deep Bitcoin and USDT order books, margin trading, and a peer-to-peer funding market where holders lend to traders. On December 17, 2025 it removed maker and taker fees entirely on spot, margin, derivatives, tokenized securities and OTC, with no volume or token requirement and no announced end date, and said withdrawal fees and capital-markets services would carry the business instead.
It also has the longest enforcement history in this set. In August 2016 hackers took 119,756 BTC, worth about $72 million at the time; Bitfinex cut every customer's balance by 36%, issued BFX tokens for the loss, and eventually made everyone whole, and in February 2022 the U.S. government recovered the coins, then worth $3.6 billion, from the couple who had laundered them. In February 2021 Bitfinex and Tether paid $18.5 million to settle a New York attorney general investigation into an $850 million shortfall at a payment processor and how it had been covered, admitting no wrongdoing and agreeing to stop trading with any New York person.
The United States left the customer list earlier than that. In August 2017 Bitfinex announced it would no longer verify U.S. individuals, citing banking difficulties and the regulatory environment, and wound down existing U.S. retail accounts over 90 days. Anytime Capital serves that customer, and everyone else: a U.S. money services business with a storefront on Piedmont Road in Atlanta, an office in One Biscayne Tower in Miami, a phone number that reaches a person, and every rail from Apple Pay to cash and same-day wire, available wherever you are.
Fees: a schedule built on withdrawals and wires, versus one all-in number on screen
Bitfinex's trading fee is now zero. Since December 17, 2025, makers and takers pay nothing on more than 250 spot pairs, on margin, on 60-plus perpetual contracts, on tokenized securities and on OTC trades. The costs sit elsewhere, in the lines Bitfinex named as its remaining revenue: per-coin network fees on crypto withdrawals and a percentage fee with a minimum on bank wires in and out, which on a small fiat withdrawal is the line that matters.
Buying with a card is a hand-off to third-party processors for non-U.S. customers, with the fee and spread inside the partner's checkout. Bitfinex has always been a bank-wire exchange at heart, and fiat access requires the higher verification tiers and a bank account in the customer's name.
Anytime Capital's card, Apple Pay and Google Pay pricing starts from 4% with the spread included, with the amount you pay and the crypto you receive shown before you confirm. It is one number for a dollar-to-crypto purchase, rather than a wire fee in, a spread, a withdrawal fee out and a partner's card fee added up, and it is available wherever you are. For larger amounts the OTC desk quotes directly against a same-day wire with a named contact.

Ways to pay: nine rails versus a 2017 wind-down notice
In the regions it serves, Bitfinex accepts bank wires in several currencies, cards through partners, and crypto deposits. In the United States it accepts nothing from individuals, and has not since 2017. There is no ACH, no U.S. wire for retail, no cash, and no U.S. affiliate.
Anytime Capital accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit and credit cards, ACH, domestic wire, Cash App, cash in person at the Atlanta branch, and cash by mail from anywhere in the country. Wires settle the same business day. If one rail is blocked by your bank, there are eight others.

Support: tickets that veterans praise and newcomers wait on, versus a phone number
Bitfinex support is email and tickets, with no phone line and no live chat for most accounts. Its Trustpilot profile sits at 1.9 out of 5 across roughly 330 reviews, and the distribution is unusual: about 40% five-star and 50% one-star, with almost nothing in between. The five-star reviews come from users since 2018 who call it the best support they have had on a crypto platform. The one-star reviews describe verification that took weeks with documents rejected over and over, deposits locked for days or indefinitely, and tickets that went unanswered. Bitfinex replies to about 2% of negative reviews in public.
At Anytime Capital you can call (470) 748-2530 during business hours and reach someone who can see your order. You can email. You can drive to 2549 Piedmont Road NE and sort it out across a desk. For larger orders the OTC desk gives you a named contact from quote to settlement.
More than an exchange balance: the account that comes with it
Bitfinex is custodial, and 2016 is the reminder of what that means: when the hot wallets were drained, every customer took a 36% haircut until the company could pay it back. Anytime Capital delivers to a non-custodial wallet, so the crypto is yours the moment it lands, and adds an FDIC-insured cash account with a free virtual debit card. Sell Bitcoin and spend the dollars the next day, without a wire to a third bank.
When Bitfinex is the right call
Choose Bitfinex if what you want is a professional margin and derivatives engine with deep BTC and USDT books, or a place to lend into peer-to-peer margin funding markets, and you have made your peace with iFinex's history. Nobody in the United States can choose it. For anyone choosing one place to buy, hold, sell and spend, with a phone number and a front door, start below.
