BitfinexBitfinex KYC: what it asks for, how long it takes, and why it stalls
Yes, Bitfinex requires KYC, and so does every legitimate platform. The difference between platforms is not whether they verify you but what happens when the automated check says no.

- Bitfinex's verification has historically taken days to weeks, and reviewers still describe repeated document rejections.

Quick answer
Does Bitfinex require KYC?
Yes. Government ID, a selfie and proof of address, with fiat access requiring the higher tiers and a bank account in the customer's name. Bitfinex's verification has historically taken days to weeks, and reviewers still describe repeated document rejections. Anytime Capital requires government ID and a selfie for every customer, and adds the option of finishing verification face to face at the Atlanta branch or over the phone.

Card pricing at Anytime Capital, where Bitfinex has no card rail
Published fee percentages on a debit or credit card order
Bitfinex does not sell crypto for a card payment directly: card purchases routed to third-party processors for non-U.S. customers, with the fee and spread shown inside the partner's checkout; not available to a U.S. customer. Anytime Capital card pricing starts from 4% and is shown in full before you confirm, excluding network fees. As of September 2026.
What Bitfinex verification involves
Bitfinex verification is tiered and, by reputation, slow. Basic tiers ask for a government ID and a selfie; fiat access requires the higher tiers, proof of address, and a bank account in the customer's own name, because Bitfinex is a wire-first exchange. The 2017 U.S. exit was itself partly about verification: the company cited a backlog of requests it could not clear. Reviewers still describe weeks-long waits and documents rejected repeatedly with little explanation, and the document's country is checked first, so a U.S. ID ends the process.
The KYC complaints on Bitfinex's profile are the largest single category of one-star reviews. A newcomer submits the same passport three or four times, each time told it is not good enough, and cannot deposit or withdraw fiat in the meantime. Veterans who verified years ago do not have this experience, which is why the profile splits the way it does.
Anytime Capital verifies identity too, as every U.S. money services business must. The difference is what happens when the automated check fails: you can call (470) 748-2530 and reach someone who can see the file, or bring the documents to the Atlanta branch.
Why automated KYC fails good customers
Glare on a licence, a name that does not match the card, an address that changed last month, a selfie in poor light: automated systems reject all of these, and the customer gets a generic message. On Bitfinex your recourse is to resubmit and open a ticket. At Anytime Capital the same check runs online, but when it stalls you can call (470) 748-2530 and have someone tell you exactly what is wrong, or bring your documents to the Atlanta branch and verify across a desk.

What verification unlocks
At Anytime Capital one verification opens crypto buying and selling, the FDIC-insured cash account with its free virtual debit card, the non-custodial wallet, and access to the OTC desk for larger orders. It is one identity check for the whole account, not a new hoop for every product.
Leaving Bitfinex? Your wallet address works here too.
Verify once with your ID and a selfie, pick a coin, choose any of nine ways to pay, and paste any wallet address you control. Card and Apple Pay orders confirm in minutes; wires settle the same business day.
