Gate started life in 2013 as Bter, rebranded to Gate.io in 2017, and dropped the suffix in 2025 to become simply Gate on the gate.com domain. It is run by Gate Technology Inc., a Cayman Islands company, and its user agreement is now governed by Panamanian law. It claims more than 46 million users, lists 3,500-plus assets, and is the exchange traders open when a token is too new or too small for anywhere else. Around the core spot market it runs futures, margin, trading bots, a launchpad and a wallet.

The global platform's restricted-locations page includes the United States alongside Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China. A U.S. ID fails verification and U.S. IP addresses are blocked. What is different about Gate, compared with Bitget or MEXC, is that it built a U.S. affiliate: Gate US launched on August 1, 2025 with crypto-to-crypto spot pairs, state money transmitter coverage in roughly 30 states by early 2026, and a promise of fiat on-ramps, custody and local payment methods to follow.

Anytime Capital is built for the customer the global platform turns away and Gate US cannot yet fund, and for customers anywhere else. Inside the United States, the global platform accepts nothing because it does not take the account, and Gate US launched with crypto deposits only, with fiat rails promised for later. There is no ACH, no U.S. wire and no cash on either.

Anytime Capital accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit and credit cards, ACH, domestic wire, Cash App, cash in person at the Atlanta branch, and cash by mail from anywhere in the country. Wires settle the same business day. If one rail is blocked by your bank, there are eight others.

Gate runs 24/7 live chat, tickets and email, and no phone line. Its Trustpilot profile has around 1,400 reviews and the score reported by third parties swings widely depending on the domain and the month, so it is not worth quoting a single number. The pattern in the reviews is stable, though. Praise is for the coin list, the bots, and agents who answer quickly. Complaints are about withdrawals that stall after deposits went through easily, accounts locked during risk reviews, and tickets that wait a day or two.
