Hyperliquid was built by Hyperliquid Labs, a small team led by Jeff Yan, a Harvard mathematics graduate and former Hudson River Trading quant, and a co-founder known as iliensinc. It opened as an alpha in 2023 with one goal: run a central-limit order book entirely on-chain without the lag that made earlier DEXs unusable. To do that the team wrote its own layer-1, with a consensus engine called HyperBFT, and later added HyperEVM in February 2025 so that ordinary smart contracts could sit beside the order book. The HYPE token launched on November 29, 2024, with roughly 31% of supply, about 310 million tokens, airdropped to past users, and the Hyper Foundation now stewards the ecosystem.
The product is perpetual futures, margined in USDC, across hundreds of markets that now include non-crypto perpetuals on indexes, oil and precious metals, with leverage up to 40x, plus a native spot market. It has become the dominant on-chain perps venue by a wide margin, with trillions of dollars in cumulative volume, and it does all of this with no KYC. You connect a wallet, bridge USDC from Arbitrum, and trade. Nobody asks your name, and nobody can be called when something goes wrong.
Anytime Capital is a different kind of thing altogether. It is an American money services business that serves customers worldwide, with a storefront at 2549 Piedmont Road NE in Atlanta, an office in Miami, a phone number that reaches a person, and every payment rail you are likely to use, including cash and same-day wire. It does not run an order book or offer leverage. It sells you the coin for dollars, delivers it to a non-custodial wallet, and gives you a bank account and debit card to cash out into. For a Hyperliquid user, that is the on-ramp. For most buyers, it is the whole trip.
