The Anytime Capital Payments app adds card payments to your Shopify checkout. Your customer chooses Anytime Capital Payments, pays the exact order total on Anytime Capital's secure checkout, and returns to your store's order confirmation. Shopify marks the order paid as soon as the payment goes through.
Before you start
- An Anytime Capital business account with card payments switched on (Payments in your dashboard).
- Owner or admin access to that business, and to the Shopify store.
- A store that sells in US dollars. Checkouts in other currencies are declined with a clear reason, so keep another payment method for them.
- Orders from $1.00 to $10,000.00.
- Payment capture set to automatic in Shopify (Settings → Payments → Payment capture method). The app charges customers when they pay; it doesn't authorize now and capture later.
- Sales tax off in Anytime Capital (Settings → Payments): Shopify already adds tax to the order total, and the app won't take payments while both would charge it.
Install and link your business
- Install Anytime Capital Payments from the Shopify App Store (or choose Add to Shopify in your Anytime Capital dashboard) and approve the payment permissions it asks for.
- Shopify sends you to Anytime Capital. Sign in if you aren't already.
- Choose the business your store's checkouts pay into and choose Link store and continue to Shopify.
- You land on the app's page in Shopify's payment settings. Activate it.
To link the store to a different business later, open the app from Apps in your Shopify admin and choose again.
Switching from Shopify Payments or another gateway
- In Shopify, go to Settings → Payments and activate Anytime Capital Payments.
- Put the provider in Shopify test mode and place a test order with a test card: it is paid on your Anytime Capital test mode and no real money moves. Then turn Shopify test mode off for real orders.
- Then deactivate the provider you're replacing in the same Settings → Payments page, so customers only see one card option.
Orders paid with the old provider stay with it: refund those through that provider. New orders pay into your Anytime Capital balance and show in Orders in your dashboard.
Refunds
Refund an order in Shopify as usual. The refund goes back to the customer's card through Anytime Capital and Shopify shows it as refunded. If your business requires an owner's approval for refunds over a limit (Settings → Team & approvals), Shopify can't send refunds over that limit: refund those from Orders in your Anytime Capital dashboard.
Good to know
- Each checkout gets its own one-time payment link for the exact amount, so a customer can't pay twice or pay a different amount.
- A customer who leaves our checkout goes back to Shopify and can choose again. A checkout nobody pays within a day is closed.
- Bank account payments show as pending in Shopify until the bank confirms them.
- If a payment ever goes through after Shopify has closed the checkout, your owners and admins get a Store payment needs attention alert to refund it.
- Uninstalling the app closes its open payment links. Shopify asks every app to erase the store's data 48 hours later, and we do.
