Import customers and products from a CSV file

Upload customers or products from any spreadsheet, or a Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or Etsy export. Every row is checked before anything is saved.

    View as MarkdownOpen in Claude

Anything you can export as a spreadsheet can come across. Upload a CSV of customers or of products, match its columns (we fill them in for the usual exports), and see the first rows as they'd come across, with every row's problem and its line number, before anything is saved.

    Ready-made layouts

    LayoutHoldsHow to export it
Shopify exportCustomers, ProductsIn Shopify admin: Customers → Export → All customers → CSV for Excel, Numbers or other spreadsheet programs. In Shopify admin: Products → Export → All products → CSV for Excel, Numbers or other spreadsheet programs.
Wix exportCustomers, ProductsIn Wix: Contacts → More Actions → Export → All contacts. In Wix: Store Products → Products → More Actions → Export to CSV.
Squarespace exportCustomers, ProductsIn Squarespace: Contacts (or Customers) → the ••• menu → Export. In Squarespace: Commerce → Inventory → Export All.
Etsy listings exportProductsOn Etsy: Shop Manager → Settings → Options → Download Data → Download CSV (Currently for Sale Listings).

Etsy doesn't share buyers' email addresses in its exports, so only listings come across from Etsy. For anything else, choose Any spreadsheet and match the columns yourself.

    • A customer needs a name, email or phone number. Customers are matched by email, so nobody is added twice; two rows with the same email keep the first.
    • A product needs a name and a price in US dollars, written like 12.50 or $1,299.00 (a comma for cents, like 12,50, is refused rather than guessed).
    • Rows that share a product ID or handle are variants of one product: the first row's name, description and image carry down, and each variant's option values are added to its name. Rows that only add another image are skipped.
    • Products are matched by SKU (or by name when there's none), so the same file uploaded twice adds nothing twice.
    • An image link must be https. We copy PNG, JPEG or WebP images up to 2 MB into your catalog.

    Limits

Up to 2 MB and 5,000 rows per file, with a header row. Commas, semicolons and tabs all work as separators, quoted fields may hold commas and new lines, and a byte order mark from Excel is fine. Split a larger list into several files: each upload skips what earlier ones brought over.

    Your file

The file is kept encrypted only while its import runs and deleted the moment it finishes, fails or is cancelled. Nothing is emailed to your customers. In test mode, the import goes into your test data. When it's done, download every row's result as a CSV from the summary.
