The WooCommerce importer reads your store through the WooCommerce REST API (v3) with a read-only key you create, shows you what would happen before anything is saved, then brings your products, customers and coupons across in the background. Nothing in your store changes, and nothing is emailed to your customers.
What comes across
| In WooCommerce | Becomes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Simple product | Product | Regular price, SKU, description (as plain text), whether it ships (not virtual or downloadable), and its first image. |
| Variation of a variable product | Product | One product per variation, named “Hoodie – Large / Blue”, with its own price, SKU and image (or the product's). |
| Customer | Customer | Registered customers, matched by email, with their billing phone, company and address. |
| Percent or fixed cart coupon | Discount code | Its amount, expiry and the uses left. |
What doesn't come across
- Saved cards. Card numbers never leave a payment processor, so customers enter their card the first time they pay you here.
- Orders, subscriptions and bookings. They stay in WooCommerce for your records.
- Guest customers. WooCommerce keeps guests only on their orders, not as customers.
- Grouped and external products. A grouped product's products come across on their own.
- Coupons we can't represent: fixed product coupons, coupons for certain products or categories, with a minimum or maximum spend, limited to certain emails or per customer, and free shipping on its own. Each is listed with the reason.
- Prices in other currencies. Products come across only when your store sells in US dollars.
Connect your store
- In WordPress, open WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API and choose Add key.
- Describe it as “Anytime Capital import”, choose an administrator or shop manager as the user, and set Permissions to Read.
- Generate the key and copy the Consumer key (
ck_…) and Consumer secret (cs_…). - In your dashboard, open Import your business → From WooCommerce, enter your store's address and paste them.
- Check the preview, choose what to import and start.
We send the key as WooCommerce documents for https sites. If your host strips that header, we send it in the address instead, still over https. Sites without pretty permalinks work too. The key is kept encrypted while the import runs and deleted the moment it finishes, fails or is cancelled; revoke it in WooCommerce once you're done.
Run it again
Each record is remembered by its WooCommerce id, so running the import again never adds anything twice. A product the import made is brought up to date as long as you haven't edited it here since. Customers only gain details they were missing, and discount codes are never changed by a re-run. Pages are read a few at a time, and busy hosts are retried with a pause, so a large store imports in the background; you can download every record's result as a CSV when it's done.
In test mode, the import goes into your test data. To take card payments in your WooCommerce checkout, see WooCommerce.
