    The Injective Network, Explained

    Quick answer

Injective is a finance-focused Proof of Stake Layer 1 live since November 2021, built on Cosmos technology with 0.6-second blocks and instant finality. Its signature features: exchange-grade orderbook infrastructure at the protocol level and a weekly auction that burns INJ from ecosystem fees.

Network fee: Typically under $0.01 per transaction in 2025–2026 — Injective's fees are among the lowest of any active chain. Third-party network figures, not Anytime Capital pricing — our pricing is on the fees & limits page.

How long does a Injective transfer take?

Injective produces blocks in roughly 0.6 seconds with instant finality — Cosmos-style consensus means no confirmation ladder. Transfers land immediately; exchange deposits credit within minutes and usually require a memo.

Compare every chain on one page: how long crypto transfers take on every major network.

Finance as the protocol, not an app

Most chains host exchanges as apps; Injective builds exchange infrastructure — a central limit orderbook, derivatives plumbing, oracle feeds — into the chain itself, and apps share that liquidity. Combined with Cosmos IBC connectivity and an Ethereum bridge, it positioned itself as the settlement layer for on-chain trading, later adding EVM compatibility in its multi-VM push (2024–2025).

    The burn auction

Injective's best-known tokenomic: a recurring auction where a basket of fees collected across ecosystem apps is bid on with INJ — and the winning INJ is burned, permanently. Millions of INJ have been destroyed this way since 2021, making INJ one of the more aggressively deflationary major assets. (Deflationary design is a fact about supply, not a promise about price.)

    Sending INJ: the memo rule

Injective inherits Cosmos deposit mechanics: exchanges receive INJ at pooled inj1… addresses and rely on the memo to route funds to your account. Copy address and memo together, always, on exchange deposits; personal-wallet transfers skip memos entirely. Finality is instant, so a deposit that hasn't credited within minutes is a platform queue — or a missing memo.

    Injective deposits need a memo

Exchanges pool INJ deposits at shared inj1… addresses and use the memo to credit your account, Cosmos-style. Omitting it means a manual support recovery. Self-custody transfers between personal wallets need no memo.
