Quick answer
Which is better, Coinbase or Anytime Capital?
Coinbase and Anytime Capital land close on a debit card order, 3.99% plus spread against from 4% with the spread already in the quote, so the decision is about everything around the price. Anytime Capital adds cash, same-day wire, Cash App, an OTC desk with a named contact, a phone line that reaches a person, an Atlanta storefront, an FDIC-insured cash account with a virtual debit card, and delivery to a wallet you control, and it serves customers worldwide. Coinbase is the stronger choice if you want to stake, trade on an order book through Advanced Trade, or hold an exchange account under its New York BitLicense.

- Anytime Capital
- Coinbase
Anytime Capital: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Debit card, Credit card, ACH bank transfer, Wire transfer, Cash App, Cash in branch, Cash by mail, each priced as one all-in number from 4% on card orders with the spread included. Coinbase: 5 of those rails, priced a 3.99% fee on debit card purchases in the simple app, plus a spread of roughly 0.5% built into the quoted price, with network fee on crypto withdrawals; free ACH cash-out, $25 wire cash-out. Both exclude blockchain network fees. As of September 2026.
What Coinbase is, and what it is not
Coinbase was founded in 2012, listed on Nasdaq in April 2021, and is the only large U.S. exchange whose financials you can read in an SEC filing. It holds a New York BitLicense, money transmitter licenses across the states, and a FinCEN registration. It lists more than 200 assets, runs a staking program, and layers three products on the same account: the simple app, Advanced Trade for order-book pricing, and the Coinbase One subscription that trades a monthly fee for waived commissions. Roughly 100 countries can use it, but the United States is its home market and its deepest.
The shape that comes with that scale is a custodial one. Your dollars and coins sit in Coinbase's ledger until you withdraw them, so a compliance hold, a restricted-account flag, or an outage stands between you and your money. Reviewers describe the phone line and chat as real but scripted, and the account-review queue as the thing nobody can call about. The May 2025 data incident, in which contractors were bribed to leak customer records, and the May 2026 AWS outage that took trading offline for about eight hours both landed on a customer base of tens of millions.
Anytime Capital is built at a different size and on a different model. It is an American money services business serving customers worldwide, with a storefront on Piedmont Road in Atlanta, an office in Miami's One Biscayne Tower, and a phone number, (470) 748-2530, that reaches a person who can see your order. Coins are delivered to a non-custodial wallet you control, so there is no freeze to appeal. It makes no attempt to be an order book. The crypto is the same. The experience around it is not.
Fees: 3.99% plus a spread, versus from 4% with the total on screen
Coinbase's simple app prices in two layers. The first is a spread of roughly 0.5% folded into the quoted price. The second is a transaction fee: a flat amount from $0.99 on small orders, a percentage on larger ones, and 3.99% when you pay with a debit card. ACH deposits are free, USD wires cost $10 to deposit and $25 to withdraw. Coinbase One, at $4.99, $29.99 or $299.99 a month depending on tier, waives the transaction fee up to a monthly volume cap but leaves the spread in place. Advanced Trade replaces all of that with maker and taker fees from 0.40% and 0.60% and no spread, which is a different pricing model for customers comfortable with an order book.
Anytime Capital card pricing starts from 4% with the spread included, one all-in number, with the amount you pay and the crypto you receive shown before you confirm. On a $1,000 debit card order, Coinbase shows 3.99% on one line and folds a spread of about 0.5% into the quoted price, while Anytime Capital shows one number for the whole order. On a $10,000 order Anytime Capital would rather move you to a same-day wire through the OTC desk, where the card fee question no longer applies. Coinbase would move you to Advanced Trade, where you place the order yourself on an order book.
Where the two really diverge is the rail. Coinbase has no cash counter, no cash-by-mail, and no Cash App, and it does not accept credit cards in the United States at all. If your bank declines a crypto debit purchase, your fallback at Coinbase is ACH and a wait of several days. At Anytime Capital, it is eight other ways to pay, including cash and a same-day wire.

Ways to pay: nine rails versus debit, ACH and wire
Coinbase in the United States takes debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, ACH and domestic wire. That covers the salaried customer with a checking account and a phone. It does not cover the customer paid in cash, the customer whose bank blocks crypto card purchases, or the customer who needs the coins today and cannot wait for ACH to settle. Credit cards have been off the table at Coinbase since 2018.
Anytime Capital accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit and credit cards, ACH, wire, Cash App, cash in person at the Atlanta branch, and cash by mail, and it serves customers wherever they are. Wires settle the same business day. If one rail is blocked by your bank, there are eight others, and a person on the phone to help you pick.

Support: a scripted phone line versus a person who can see your order
Coinbase's Trustpilot profile sits around 4.0 out of 5 across more than 23,000 reviews, which is strong for an exchange, and it does publish a phone number and 24/7 chat. The one-star reviews are almost all the same story: an account restricted for a review the customer cannot see, a withdrawal held, a support agent who is sympathetic and powerless. The scale that makes Coinbase safe on paper also makes it slow to unstick a single customer.
At Anytime Capital you can call (470) 748-2530 during business hours and reach someone who can see your order and act on it. You can email. You can walk into 2549 Piedmont Road NE in Atlanta and sort it out across a desk. For larger orders the OTC desk gives you a named contact from quote to settlement, which Coinbase reserves for its institutional Prime customers.
More than an exchange: the account that comes with it
Coinbase holds your coins in its wallet and your cash in its ledger; getting either out means a withdrawal, a network fee or a $25 wire, and a wait. Anytime Capital customers get an FDIC-insured cash account with a free virtual debit card, a non-custodial wallet, and buy and sell in the same app, so selling Bitcoin on Tuesday and spending the dollars on Wednesday is one login rather than an exchange, a bank, and a wire in between.
That also removes the single biggest complaint in Coinbase's reviews. There is no custodial account to freeze when the coins were delivered to a wallet you hold the keys to.
When Coinbase is the right call
Choose Coinbase if you plan to stake, if you want to trade on an order book through Advanced Trade, or if you want an exchange account under its New York BitLicense. For one place to buy, hold, sell and spend, with cash and wire on the table and a person to call, wherever you are, start below.
