Quick answer
Is Anytime Capital cheaper than PayPal?
For card and wallet payments, yes. Anytime Capital Payments is 2.75% + 30¢; PayPal Checkout is 3.49% + 49¢, so a $100 sale costs $3.05 against $3.98. PayPal's card processing on Expanded Checkout is 2.89% + 29¢, or $3.18 on the same sale, and a cent cheaper than ours below about $7. PayPal also adds 1.5% on international commercial transactions and a 3% currency-conversion spread. PayPal is still worth offering where your buyers ask for it; a PayPal option on Anytime Capital checkout is coming soon, and today checkout takes cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

What PayPal is genuinely good for
- Consumer-facing online stores whose buyers trust a PayPal or Venmo button and convert better when they see one.
- Sellers who want Pay Later and Venmo at checkout without building anything.
- Marketplaces and individual sellers paid by people who would rather not type a card number into a site they have never used.
The PayPal button is worth something. Know what it costs.
Shoppers who already have a PayPal or Venmo login can pay without typing a card number, which matters most on mobile and with first-time buyers. For some stores that is worth more than any difference in rate, and we would not tell them to drop it.
The cost is in the fixed fee as much as the percentage. On a $10 sale, PayPal Checkout's 3.49% + 49¢ takes $0.84, more than 8% of the sale; 2.75% + 30¢ takes $0.58. On $100 it is $3.98 against $3.05, and on $1,000, $35.39 against $27.80. Pay Later costs the seller more again, at 4.99% + 49¢.

International buyers and currency conversion
PayPal adds 1.5% to international commercial transactions and converts currency at a 3% spread, 4% on some conversions. For a business that sells abroad, those two lines can cost more than the processing fee itself.
Anytime Capital Payments shows any international-card or conversion fee in your dashboard before you accept the payment, and the money can leave the same way it came in: to suppliers on local rails in 71+ countries (SEPA Instant, Faster Payments, PIX, SPEI, UPI, PayNow and mobile money) or as same-day USDC and USDT transfers, without converting through a wallet spread first.
Whose name is on the receipt
A PayPal payment sends your customer through PayPal's flow, and the email they keep comes from PayPal. That is the trade for the trust: the customer relationship is shared with the wallet.
Anytime Capital Payments puts your logo and colour on checkout, invoices, receipts and payment emails, served from a domain you own such as pay.yourbusiness.com. Receipts come from you, and the customer record, invoices and payment history live on one record in your dashboard.
Crypto payments, and what happens after
PayPal's Pay with Crypto lets US merchants accept more than 100 cryptocurrencies through wallets such as Coinbase and MetaMask, settling in PYUSD or dollars, at 0.99% until July 31, 2026. PayPal had not published the rate after that date in what we found.
Anytime Capital takes USDC and USDT by payment request to the business's wallet on Ethereum, Solana or Tron, rather than at card checkout. The business can hold them, convert across 38+ assets at desk-quoted rates, and send same-day stablecoin transfers from the same balance its card sales land in.
