Verification
Upbit KYC: what it asks for, how long it takes, and why it stalls
Yes, Upbit requires KYC, and so does every legitimate platform. The difference between platforms is not whether they verify you but what happens when the automated check says no.
- Korean mobile phone verification, a government ID, and a real-name K Bank account in the same name; foreign nationals need an Alien Registration Card and most cannot open the K Bank account at all.
- Koreans with a K Bank account are usually approved the same day; anyone without one never gets past the bank-linking step.
- Anytime Capital: verify online, or in person at the Atlanta branch

Quick answer
Does Upbit require KYC?
Yes. Korean mobile phone verification, a government ID, and a real-name K Bank account in the same name; foreign nationals need an Alien Registration Card and most cannot open the K Bank account at all. Koreans with a K Bank account are usually approved the same day; anyone without one never gets past the bank-linking step. Anytime Capital requires government ID and a selfie for every customer, and adds the option of finishing verification face to face at the Atlanta branch or over the phone.

Card pricing at Anytime Capital, where Upbit has no card rail
Published fee percentages on a debit or credit card order
Upbit does not sell crypto for a card payment directly: no card, Apple Pay or Google Pay purchases at all; the only way in is a Korean-won transfer from a linked K Bank account, so a card never enters the picture. Anytime Capital card pricing starts from 4% and is shown in full before you confirm, excluding network fees. As of September 2026.
What Upbit verification involves
Upbit's verification is built around Korea's real-name account law. You register with a Korean mobile number, verify your identity with a resident registration number or Alien Registration Card, then link a K Bank account held in the same name. The bank link is mandatory before any won deposit, and K Bank, an internet-only bank, in practice opens accounts for Korean residents with local phone verification. Korean customers with an existing K Bank account are usually approved the same day.
Foreign nationals face a harder path. An Alien Registration Card is required, most short-term visitors cannot obtain one, and even long-term residents report being unable to open the K Bank account or being rejected after opening it. Korea's 2025 regulatory push, including the FIU sanction over 700,000 KYC lapses, made exchanges stricter rather than looser. The Trustpilot complaints about Upbit are almost all this story: an applicant abroad who never got past the bank step.
Anytime Capital verifies customers with a government ID and a selfie, with additional checks for larger orders, and confirms eligibility for your location, including state by state in the United States. No Korean bank account is involved. If the automated check stalls, a person at (470) 748-2530 can see where it stopped.
Why automated KYC fails good customers
Glare on a licence, a name that does not match the card, an address that changed last month, a selfie in poor light: automated systems reject all of these, and the customer gets a generic message. On Upbit your recourse is to resubmit and open a ticket. At Anytime Capital the same check runs online, but when it stalls you can call (470) 748-2530 and have someone tell you exactly what is wrong, or bring your documents to the Atlanta branch and verify across a desk.

What verification unlocks
At Anytime Capital one verification opens crypto buying and selling, the FDIC-insured cash account with its free virtual debit card, the non-custodial wallet, and access to the OTC desk for larger orders. It is one identity check for the whole account, not a new hoop for every product.
