Bitstamp vs Anytime Capital
Bitstamp has been selling Bitcoin since 2011, holds a New York BitLicense, answers the phone, and since June 2025 belongs to Robinhood. Quick answer
Which is better, Bitstamp or Anytime Capital?
Bitstamp and Anytime Capital charge the same headline 4% on a card, but Bitstamp adds a spread on top while Anytime Capital's price already includes it. Beyond the card, Anytime Capital adds cash, same-day wire, Cash App, an OTC desk for any size, a branch, an FDIC-insured cash account with a virtual debit card, and delivery to a wallet you control. Bitstamp is the stronger choice if you want an order book with maker and taker pricing, a New York license, or the comfort of a fifteen-year track record under a listed U.S. parent.

What Bitstamp is, and what it is not
Bitstamp was founded in Slovenia in 2011 by two university students and moved to Luxembourg in 2016, where it became the first exchange licensed as a payment institution in the EU. Bitstamp USA obtained a New York BitLicense in 2019 after a three-year wait, and the group holds a MiCA license in Europe, an FCA registration in the UK and a Singapore license. On June 2, 2025, Robinhood closed a $200 million acquisition, and the exchange now trades as Bitstamp by Robinhood. It lists a little over 100 assets and serves more than 100 countries.
It is deliberately conservative. The coin list is short and large-cap. Compliance is strict enough that document requests and locked accounts are the dominant theme of its reviews, which average around 1.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot. Its last major security incident was the January 2015 theft of about 19,000 BTC from a hot wallet, after which it rebuilt its infrastructure and has run clean since. It is custodial: your coins and dollars sit in Bitstamp's ledger until you withdraw them. It does, unusually, publish a 24/7 phone line.
Anytime Capital shares the phone line and little else. It is an American money services business serving customers worldwide, with a storefront on Piedmont Road in Atlanta, an office in Miami's One Biscayne Tower, and nine ways to pay, including cash and same-day wire. Coins are delivered to a non-custodial wallet you control, and it is not an order book. The crypto is the same. The shape of the company is not.
Fees: 4% plus spread, versus from 4% with the total on screen
Bitstamp's order book starts at 0.40% to take and 0.30% to make, dropping through a 30-day volume ladder to 0.15% and 0.10% at the top. ACH deposits and withdrawals are free for U.S. customers. International wires cost 0.05% to deposit and 0.1% to withdraw with a $25 minimum. Crypto withdrawals carry the network fee. Those are the order-book numbers, and they apply only when you fund by ACH and place a limit order yourself.
Instant purchases are priced like an on-ramp. Buying with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal carries a 4% fee, and the quote includes a spread on top. A $1,000 card order is $40 plus the spread. Anytime Capital's card pricing starts from 4% with the spread already inside, so the same order is from $40, with the amount you pay and the crypto you receive shown before you confirm. On a card the two are as close as any pair in this comparison, and Anytime Capital's number is the one you can see in full.
At $10,000 and above the paths diverge. Bitstamp would move you to the order book by ACH, where you place the order yourself and wait for the transfer to settle. Anytime Capital would move you to a same-day wire through the OTC desk, where you get a firm quote and a named contact. Bitstamp's OTC desk exists, but it is aimed at institutions.

Ways to pay: nine rails versus cards, ACH and wire
Bitstamp in the United States takes debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, ACH and wire. That is one of the wider lists among U.S. exchanges. What it lacks is any cash rail, Cash App, and a same-day option that does not cost 4%. Hawaii and Nevada residents cannot open an account at all.
Anytime Capital accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, debit and credit cards, ACH, wire, Cash App, cash in person at the Atlanta branch, and cash by mail, and it serves customers wherever they are. Wires settle the same business day. If one rail is blocked by your bank, there are eight others.

Support: a phone line and a compliance queue, versus a phone line and a front door
Bitstamp deserves credit here: it publishes a 24/7 support phone number, which almost no exchange does, and reviewers describe the agents as competent. The problem is what the agents cannot do. Bitstamp's Trustpilot profile sits around 1.7 out of 5 across about a thousand reviews, and the one-star reviews are overwhelmingly about accounts locked pending a document request, sometimes for weeks, with the phone agent able to confirm the ticket exists and nothing more. Compliance at Bitstamp is a separate queue, and the phone does not jump it.
At Anytime Capital you can call (470) 748-2530 during business hours and reach someone who can see your order and act on it. You can email. You can drive to 2549 Piedmont Road NE in Atlanta and sort it out across a desk. For larger orders the OTC desk gives you a named contact from quote to settlement.
More than an exchange: the account that comes with it
Bitstamp holds your coins and cash until you withdraw them, and its reviews show what that means when a document request lands. Anytime Capital customers get an FDIC-insured cash account with a free virtual debit card, a non-custodial wallet, and buy and sell in the same app, so selling Bitcoin and spending the dollars is one login rather than an exchange, a bank and a wait. Because the coins are delivered to a wallet you control, there is no custodial balance for a review to lock.
When Bitstamp is the right call
Choose Bitstamp if you want the longest track record in the industry under a listed U.S. parent, a New York BitLicense holder, or an order book where you place limit orders yourself and wait for ACH. Its phone line is real and its security record since 2015 is clean. It does not serve Hawaii or Nevada.
