Coinme has as many prices as it has doors. At a Coinstar kiosk, Coinstar's FAQ lists a 4% transaction fee plus a spread set by the crypto provider, and the all-in cash exchange fee is widely reported at 16.5% at many locations, varying by store and by how much cash you insert. At a MoneyGram counter the fee is 4% plus $2.75, with limits of $400 per transaction and $2,000 per day. Coinme Cash at a retail register is reported around a 5% spread plus a flat retailer fee of $2.95 to $4.74. In the app, a debit card purchase is widely reported at a 1.49% exchange fee plus a 3.25% card processing fee, with a spread of about 4% in the quoted price, for roughly 8.7% all in.
Coinme says its fees are shown before you confirm, and at the kiosk they are, on a screen most people read after the cash is in. That is where the complaints come from: the 4% looks like the fee, and the spread is the larger part. Sending coins out of the Coinme wallet costs the network fee. Selling for cash at MoneyGram carries its own fee and limits.
Against that, Anytime Capital's pricing starts from 4% with the spread included on cash at the branch, cash by mail, cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with one total and one amount received on the quote. On $500 in cash that is from $20 here against roughly $82 at a kiosk charging 16.5%. On a $1,000 app debit purchase it is from $40 here against about $87 at Coinme with spread. The comparison is not close, and Coinme's defense is not price but the grocery store on the corner.
