bitFlyer is available in the United States through bitFlyer USA, Inc., a separately licensed company headquartered in San Francisco. It holds a New York BitLicense, which most foreign exchanges never obtain, and money transmitter licenses that cover 49 states plus Washington, D.C. Hawaii was the remaining unsupported state at our last check, so confirm on bitFlyer's states page before opening an account. Nonresidents cannot open a bitFlyer USA account; the Japanese and European entities serve their own regions.
What the U.S. version leaves out is the texture of a company with a front door. Funding is ACH and wire only. Support is by ticket. The coin list is about a dozen. There is no office to visit, no phone line, no cash rail and no card checkout. Anytime Capital's Atlanta branch is a storefront on Piedmont Road, its Miami office is in One Biscayne Tower, and its phone number reaches a person during business hours.
What "available" leaves out
