Verification
CoinFlip KYC: what it asks for, how long it takes, and why it stalls
CoinFlip verifies in tiers: small amounts with less, larger amounts with more. The difference between platforms is not whether they verify you but what happens when the automated check says no.
- A phone number and name for small purchases, a government photo ID above roughly $960 a day, and a Social Security number and a call with support above roughly $3,000, by CoinFlip's own guide; tiers and limits vary by state.
- The phone step takes minutes at the kiosk; ID checks run through Veriff, and the top tier waits on a call with CoinFlip support.
- Anytime Capital: verify online, or in person at the Atlanta branch

Quick answer
Does CoinFlip require KYC?
Yes, in tiers. By CoinFlip's own guide, a phone number and name cover small purchases, a government photo ID is required above roughly $960 a day, and a Social Security number and a call with support above roughly $3,000. State laws can set lower daily limits. Anytime Capital verifies once with an ID and a selfie, online or in person.

What a cash purchase costs: CoinFlip vs Anytime Capital
Published or posted fee percentages on a cash purchase
- Anytime Capital
- CoinFlip
CoinFlip: a markup over the market price built into the kiosk's rate, listed in its U.S. terms at 21.9% on purchases (4.99% when you sell), varying by machine, plus a minimum network fee of a few dollars (21.9%). Anytime Capital: from 4%, shown in full before you confirm. Both exclude blockchain network fees. Published schedules as of October 2026; confirm your exact quote in each checkout.
What CoinFlip verification involves
CoinFlip verifies by how much you spend. Its ID guide sets a first tier of roughly $20 to $960 a day with a phone number and name, a second tier up to about $2,995 with a government photo ID checked through Veriff, and a third up to about $19,000 with a Social Security number and a call with CoinFlip support. Registering online in advance raises the ceiling. An older version of the same guide gives slightly different thresholds, and every tier can be lower in states with kiosk laws.
The tiers exist because bitcoin ATMs are where many scams end, and regulators expect operators to stop large first-time purchases. For a genuine buyer it means a larger purchase can stop partway, at a machine, with a support call as the way forward.
Why automated KYC fails good customers
Glare on a licence, a name that does not match the card, an address that changed last month, a selfie in poor light: automated systems reject all of these, and the customer gets a generic message. On CoinFlip your recourse is to resubmit and queue for support. At Anytime Capital the same check runs online, but when it stalls you can call (470) 748-2530 and have someone tell you exactly what is wrong, or bring your documents to the Atlanta branch and verify across a desk.

What verification unlocks
At Anytime Capital one verification opens crypto buying and selling, the FDIC-insured cash account with its free virtual debit card, the non-custodial wallet, and access to the OTC desk for larger orders. It is one identity check for the whole account, not a new hoop for every product.
Leaving CoinFlip? Your wallet address works here too.
Verify once with your ID and a selfie, pick a coin, choose any of nine ways to pay, and paste any wallet address you control. Card and Apple Pay orders confirm in minutes; wires settle the same business day.
