Verification
Zengo KYC: what it asks for, how long it takes, and why it stalls
Yes, Zengo requires KYC, and so does every legitimate platform. The difference between platforms is not whether they verify you but what happens when the automated check says no.
- Creating the wallet needs only an email and a device; buying or selling runs MoonPay's verification, with a government ID and a selfie on the first purchase.
- Wallet setup takes a minute; MoonPay approval is usually minutes, with manual reviews handled by MoonPay, not Zengo.
- Anytime Capital: verify online, or in person at the Atlanta branch
Updated September 2026. Zengo figures from its published pricing, terms and independent reviews.

Yes. Creating the wallet needs only an email and a device; buying or selling runs MoonPay's verification, with a government ID and a selfie on the first purchase. Wallet setup takes a minute; MoonPay approval is usually minutes, with manual reviews handled by MoonPay, not Zengo. Anytime Capital requires government ID and a selfie for every customer, and adds the option of finishing verification face to face at the Atlanta branch or over the phone.

Card pricing at Anytime Capital, where Zengo has no card rail
Published fee percentages on a debit or credit card order
Zengo does not sell crypto for a card payment directly: no card rail of its own; buying inside Zengo is a MoonPay purchase at MoonPay's rate, which is 4.5% on card, Apple Pay and Google Pay orders with a minimum of about $3.99, shown before you confirm, and Zengo Pro subscribers get a discount of up to 50% on those fees. Anytime Capital card pricing starts from 4% and is shown in full before you confirm, excluding network fees. As of September 2026.
What Zengo verification involves
Creating a Zengo wallet asks for an email address and a device, and that is all; there is no identity check to hold coins, because Zengo is software rather than a financial institution. Recovery setup adds a face scan, which Zengo stores as an encrypted mathematical representation rather than a photo, and an encrypted recovery file saved to your cloud account. That is the whole onboarding for a holder, and it takes about a minute.
Buying or selling is where verification appears, and it is MoonPay's. On a first purchase MoonPay asks for a government ID and a selfie inside the app, with proof of address for higher limits, and approval usually takes minutes. A manual review sits in MoonPay's queue, and Zengo's chat agents can relay a question but cannot clear it. Because MoonPay recognizes returning customers across the apps it powers, a customer already verified with MoonPay elsewhere may not need to repeat the step.
Why automated KYC fails good customers
Glare on a licence, a name that does not match the card, an address that changed last month, a selfie in poor light: automated systems reject all of these, and the customer gets a generic message. On Zengo your recourse is to resubmit and open a ticket. At Anytime Capital the same check runs online, but when it stalls you can call (470) 748-2530 and have someone tell you exactly what is wrong, or bring your documents to the Atlanta branch and verify across a desk.
A front door, not a chat window
Zengo is built to be used through a screen. We are built to be visited. Bring cash, bring questions, or bring a problem another platform could not solve.

What verification unlocks
At Anytime Capital one verification opens crypto buying and selling, the FDIC-insured cash account with its free virtual debit card, the non-custodial wallet, and access to the OTC desk for larger orders. It is one identity check for the whole account, not a new hoop for every product.
Leaving Zengo? Your wallet address works here too.
Verify once with your ID and a selfie, pick a coin, choose any of nine ways to pay, and paste any wallet address you control. Card and Apple Pay orders confirm in minutes; wires settle the same business day.
