# In-person payments with a QR code

> Take payments face to face with no card reader: key in an amount, show a QR code, and your customer pays on their own phone with Apple Pay, Google Pay or card.

Collect in person from any phone, tablet or computer with a browser. There is no card reader to buy: your customer pays on their own phone, with Apple Pay, Google Pay or their card, by scanning a QR code you show them. ## How it works

1. Open **Checkout tools → Collect in person** in the dashboard.
2. Key in the amount ($1.00 to $10,000.00) on the keypad, or type it, and add an optional note such as the item or table.
3. Show the full-screen QR code to your customer.
4. They scan it with their phone's camera and pay on their own phone.
5. Your screen changes to **Paid** as soon as the payment goes through. Start the next sale.

Each sale is a one-time payment link: it closes after its payment and appears in **Payment Links** and **Orders** like any other, with receipts in your branding. You can cancel a sale from the QR screen before it's paid.

> **A standing QR code for your counter:** For a fixed price you charge all day (a class, a ticket, a set menu), make a reusable payment link and print its QR code from **Checkout tools → Add to your website → Link**.

## Build it into your own point of sale

The same flow works from your own app through the API: create a `singleUse` link for the sale, render its `url` as a QR code, and mark the sale paid when the `payment.succeeded` webhook arrives with `data.source.id` equal to the link's id.

Then show the returned `url` as a QR code with any QR library, and deactivate the link (`POST /api/v1/payment-links/{id}/deactivate`) if the customer walks away.
